Pretty sure you all already completed your Census and aren’t procrastinating like we have…. But considering the whole pandemic situation, it would be totally understandable if you have accidentally put this on the back burner. But now that you have cozied up to your new at-home normal, maybe you can complete it while watching Tiger King or whatever new binge-worthy show is popping these days! We certainly had to put this on the very long to do list and as we figure out bills for the first of the month, I realized we had been putting this Census thing off for way too long! 

10 Reasons why you should complete the Census

1. Easy to respond: via mail, phone, online!
2. Either way, you will need your 12 digit Census ID (mailed to you earlier this year).
3. The 2020 Census counts every person living in the United States
4. The census provides critical data to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community.
5. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data.
6. The results of the census also determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, and they are used to draw congressional and state legislative districts.
7. This only happens every 10 years! Be a part of our history, count you and yours in the Census!
8. Great family activity to do and teachable moment for the kiddos.
9. They extended the response date, you have until August 14 to respond (Versus July 31, the original due date).
10. Oh, and…. Participating in the census is required by law!

We chose to complete ours online, mostly so we don’t have to leave the house or add an extra stop when the husband goes grocery shopping.
