Essential Oils During Pregnancy

The first thing I think about when looking into anything during my pregnancy is, “is it safe”? I love juicing for example, but thanks to google, now I know there are many “Greens” I should avoid (or all-together juicing since its not pasteurized). I also looooove tea, and during pregnancy, there are many teas to avoid. The same goes with essential oils, the first thing I thought about was, which oils are safe during pregnancy? Luckily, I am now a part of the Young Living essential oils family and have access to information to help me navigate Essential Oils during Pregnancy.

What Oils to AVOID during Pregnancy*

  • Sage
  • Idaho Tansy or Hyssop
  • Fennel
  • Wintergreen
  • Blends and supplements that contain these oils

If you are new to essential oils, know that they are very specific to each individual, start slow and lower dosage and pay attention to your body. As always, consult with your healthcare provider. I personally followed the instructions on the pamphlets the first time I tried them and realized that our family needs less concentration and have modified our use accordingly.

During my pregnancy, my favorite essential oils for my diffuser (aromatically*) have been:

  • Lavender
  • Lemongrass (only safe aromatically not topically nor ingested during pregnancy).
  • Peppermint (only safe aromatically not topically nor ingested during pregnancy).
Lavender essential oil has a scent that’s a wonderful blend of fresh, floral, clean, and calm. It’s this dynamic aroma that has made the plant a classic for perfumes, soaps, fresheners, and beauty products. Lavender is a great beginner oil and a must for every home. Lavender essential oil isn’t just a favorite because of its classic scent—it’s also highly versatile. From skin care products to relaxing routines, this oil can infuse and enhance many areas of your life.
Peppermint essential oil provides a familiar, recognizable scent, but Peppermint is so much more than just a nostalgic, fresh aroma. This oil can be diffused to create a stimulating, focused atmosphere for daily tasks.
Lemongrass essential oil has origins in Southeast Asia, though it is now cultivated in countries around the world. It is distilled from the leaves and woody stalks of the lemongrass plant, and it produces a subtle citrus-herb scent. Lemongrass oil offers a sophisticated and relaxing aroma that can transform your home’s environment into a comforting sanctuary. Try diffusing Lemongrass for an aroma that can inspire a sense of clarity and relaxation for you and your family. Enhance daily chores by adding Lemongrass to your cleaning products, dishes, and laundry. By adding 3–4 drops to a sink full of dishes, a load of laundry, or your all-purpose cleaner formula, you can transport yourself with an exotic, clean-smelling boost.

Aceites Esenciales durante el Embarazo

Lo primero en lo que pienso cuando analizo algo durante mi embarazo es “¿es seguro”? Me encantan los jugos, por ejemplo, pero gracias a Google, ahora sé que hay muchos “Verdes” que debo evitar (o jugos completos, ya que no están pasteurizados). También me encanta el té, y durante el embarazo, hay muchos tés para evitar. Lo mismo ocurre con los aceites esenciales, lo primero que pensé fue, ¿qué aceites son seguros durante el embarazo? Afortunadamente, ahora soy parte de la familia de aceites esenciales de Young Living y tengo acceso a información para ayudarme a navegar por los aceites esenciales durante el embarazo.
