COLD and FLU & Stomach Flu Season- How to Prevent it / Temporada De El Resfriado y la Gripe y De la Influenza Estomacal- Cómo Evitar

It is the season of colds, flu, and stomach flu ergo it is very important to prevent our little ones from catching such. A few tips, always sanitize your shopping cart with Clorox wipes. If you are attending a birthday at a pizza parlor wipe down the games and rides before your little one touches. Sometimes wiping everything down may become a bit too much so I will try to wash my little ones hands ASAP or wipe them with anti-bacterial wipes soon  after touching items that may be contagious. This is especially important before eating solids and Mami’s be sure to always wash your hands too. Also boosting our little one’s immune system by providing them with enough vitamin C intake. Vitamin C is of course in oranges, orange juice and bananas. It can also be found in strawberries, papayas, guavas, kiwi and broccoli. Though most of these viruses are airborne we can decrease the likelihood of our babies catching any of these bugs. Read more

BEBES on iPads/Tablets/Phones

I spend lots of time on my phone/computer and my toddler sees it, which makes her curious to take a look at what Mamí is doing. At first I thought it was cute, so I would play videos with songs such as “twinkle twinkle little star” then it got to the point to which I had to wait my turn to use my own phone/computer. Then I bought an iPad (Yes, I did. I know) to ensure we each had a device to use when needed. She uses the iPad about three times a day for about 10-15 minute spurts. My daughter is saying a few numbers, colors, letters and signs. I believe that it has to do with the use of these devices. The use of the technology came in handy at the grocery market when the terrible twos kicked in. I once said I wouldn’t be the kind of parent that hands their kid their phone to calm them down, look at me now (guilty). But it’s all with moderation. Be sure to revise the programs and apps you use for your little ones, kids can use them to their educational benefit. I enjoy having her use/watch Epic, Starfall, Simple Learning, Signing Time, and Alphablocks and of course some Disney Singing is a fave.   For a quick youtube playlist go to our youtube channel: LA Mami Life.
